Lot 127 – Iris And Ruby x Querari

Querari filly one for the short-list!

Boland Stud’s 2019 KZN Yearling Sale draft is comprised of yearlings by such proven stallions as Elusive Fort, Ideal World, Master Of My Fate, Oratorio, and the increasingly successful Querari.

A son of triple Gr.1 winner and champion sprinter Oasis Dream, Querari is represented by four yearlings in Boland’s KZN draft with his draft including a well related filly (on behalf of the Black Swan Stud) out of speedy three-time winner Iris And Ruby. The latter, who won up to 1200m, has already produced a useful performer in the shape of four-time winner Sun At Midnight, who was speedy like her dam and won up to 1200m. Iris And Ruby was sired by dual Gr.1 winner Counter Action, whose stakes winning daughter Crescent Lily is dam of 2019 Gr.2 KRA Guineas hero Twist Of Fate.

Her dam, the dual winner Cum Laude (by high class broodmare sire Caesour), is also granddam of Jockey Club Stakes winner Bursary. Cum Laude in turn is a half-sister to high class sprinter Thunder Cat, whose 10 wins included the Gr.2 Cape Merchants. This filly is from the same family as Gr.1 Paddock Stakes winner and high class producer Badger’s Gift.

Querari has already come up with more than 30 stakes horses from his first four full crops of racing age, with his progeny headed by the graded stakes winners Querari Falcon, Head Honcho, Kangaroo Jack, Cosmic Light, Wonderwall, Monks Hood and Pinnacle Peak.

From the same male line as 2019 Gr.1 Qipco 2000 Guineas hero Magna Grecia, Querari has already proven commercially successful, with his yearlings making up to R4 200 000 at the 2019 National Yearling Sale.
