Danon Platina-an exciting prospect!

Boland Stud are proud to be offering a beautifully bred colt (Lot 134) from the first crop of Japanese sensation Danon Platina at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale. Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014, Danon Platina won five times including the prestigious G1 Asahi Hai Futurity – a race won also by successful sire Fuji Kiseki.

The flashy grey, beaten just once at two, is a son of legendary Japanese racehorse and sire Deep Impact -who was Champion Sire in Japan last year for a tenth consecutive year! Sire of more than 180 stakes winners, Deep Impact has sired numerous top class gallopers including international stars Saxon Warrior, Profondo, A Shin Hikari, Fancy Blue, Study Of Man, Loves Only You, as well as triple Oaks winner Snowfall. Deep Impact is also making his mark as a sire of sires, with son Real Impact responsible for G1 winner Lauda Sion, and another son, Kizuna, Japan’s Leading First Season Sire in 2019 and Japan’s Leading Second Season Sire the following year. The Coolmore based Saxon Warrior made his mark with his first yearlings in 2021 making up to ¥190,000,000.

Danon Platina, who is out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Badeelah, is bred on the same Deep Impact/Unbridled’s Song cross as Japanese Triple Crown winner Contrail. Boland Stud will be offering a son of this exciting young sire -whose first crop are now yearlings. The colt in question is out of Listed Ruffian Stakes winner and G3 Pretty Polly Stakes runner up Dagmar, a daughter of top sire Querari. (The latter has already made his mark as a broodmare sire with Querari damsire of this season’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas winner Chansonette).

The blue blooded Dagmar is herself out of a stakes placed daughter of multiple champion sire Silvano, with Dagmar’s granddam none other than G3 Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Day Lily Delight. This means, the colt on offer sports black type performers for each of his first three dams! Dagmar’s numerous high-class relatives include such G1 winners as Coral Fever, Fort Defiance, Ravishing and Villandry, to name but a few!
