Lot 134 – Eurythmics x Lancaster Bomber
Record breaking colts sibling to blow rivals away!
The Boland Stud bred Cruise Control made the perfect start to his racing career, with the son of Querari winning two of his first three starts and setting a new course record over 800m at Fairview. When making his winning debut, Cruise Control accounted for a very talented colt in the form of Cliff Top, with the latter subsequently successful in both the Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes and Listed East Cape Nursery. Cruise Control certainly has the female line required to be an above average galloper -he is out of the regally bred Sail From Seattle mare Eurythmics. The latter, who hails from one of the most prolific sources of stakes winners in the South African stud book, is a full-sister to Gr.1 Betting World Cape Flying Championship winner Gulf Storm as well as to Gr.3 Sycamore Sprint heroine Seattle Singer. Eurythmics is also a half-sister to current East Cape star Global Drummer -a winner of 15 of his first 19 starts, including six Listed races.
Eurythmics’ four time winning dam Royal Drummer is, in turn, a half-sister to Equus Champion Rock Opera and exported Gr.2 The Nursery winner Hit Song as well as to the Gr.1 placed dam of Gr.1 Gold Medallion/Gr.1 Mercury Sprint winner Van Halen. Remarkably, Rock Opera, South Africa’s Champion 2YO Filly of 2005, proved even more successful at stud, and produced Gr.1 Criterium International winner and Australian sire Royal Meeting as well as globe trotting five time group/graded stakes winner Heavy Metal. Boland Stud will be offering a half-brother to the talented Cruise Control at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale. The colt in question hails from the first local crop of the brilliant Lancaster Bomber. One of the very best sons of outstanding sire War Front, Lancaster Bomber won or finished second or third in seven of the world’s finest races and put up a breath-taking performance when strolling home to down Gr.1 Investec Coronation Cup winner Defoe in the 2018 Gr.1 Tattersalls Gold Cup. The flashy Lancaster Bomber also recorded runner up efforts in both the 2016 Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and the following year’s Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Mile. Lancaster Bomber has already made his mark with his first yearlings going through the ring making up to R700 000 at the recent National Yearling Sale. Lancaster Bomber also hails from the Danzig male line -as do the aforementioned Gr.1 winners Royal Meeting and Van Halen!
