Kommetdieding’s sire represented in Boland Stud’s November draft

Triple Gr.1 winning stallion Elusive Fort had a season to remember in 2020-2021. Not only was the champion son of Fort Wood responsible for five black type winners of seven stakes races, his son Kommetdieding captured South Africa’s most famous horse-race -the Gr.1 Vodacom Durban July. Trained by Harold Crawford and Michelle Rix, Kommetdieding made it five wins from just seven starts when downing a star studded field to win the 2021 Vodacom Durban July. In the process, the Elusive Fort colt, who accounted for five Gr.1 winners in the July, took his earnings to over R1.67 million.

Kommetdieding

Gr.1 Winner – Kommetdieding

His sire Elusive Fort, who is currently responsible for nearly 30 black type horses including Gr.1 winners Lauderdale, Out Of Your League and Siren’s Call and last season’s top-class three-year-old Catch Twentytwo, ended the 2020-2021 South African racing season above such stellar stallions as Captain Al, Var, Dynasty and Trippi on the South African General Sires List. With the likes of Kommetdieding, Catch Twentytwo and his very promising daughter Big Burn to represent him this season, Elusive Fort looks on course for another great year!

Boland Stud will be offering, as agent, a colt by Elusive Fort at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale, and this colt has plenty going for him! A half-brother to a useful winner, the colt in question is out of a four time winning half-sister to a trio of black type horses notably Listed Java Handicap winner Fulcrum. His granddam, the dual winning Badger Land mare Land Of Hope is a three-parts sister to former South African Broodmare Of The Year Sunshine Lover. The latter, like Land Of Hope sired by Badger Land, produced Equus Champion Captain’s Lover and triple Gr.1 winner Ebony Flyer (both of whom won the Gr.1 Cape Fillies Guineas of her respective year), and she also rates the dam of both Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning champion Vardy and the very promising Adam Marcus trained Universal. The latter, at the time of writing, had made just two starts -breaking his maiden at the second time of asking by a whopping nine and a half lengths!
