Lot 149 – Elisium x Lancaster Bomber

Elisium

Guineas winner’s sister to star for Boland Stud

Boland Stud will be offering an exceptionally well bred filly at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale. A daughter of War Front’s top-class son Lancaster Bomber, the filly in question is not only a half-sister to a Gr.1 Cape Guineas winner but she hails from one of the very best families in the modern day stud book. This impeccably bred filly is a half-sister to five winners, notably the classy Russian Rock, who accounted for such stars of the turf as Linebacker, Malmoos and Jet Dark, when he claimed the 2020 Gr.1 Cape Racing Presents The Cape Guineas. Her dam Elisium, a daughter of star miler Proclamation, is a half-sister to the stakes placed dam of high-class two-year-old Winged Cupid, as well as to Place De l’Etoile, dam of the Gr.2 winning dam of this season’s high-class French filly Place Du Carrousel, and, more importantly, to the Darshaan daughter Hoity Toity.

The latter produced Gr.1 Coronaton Stakes/Gr.1 Matron Stakes queen Lillie Langtry, with that four time group winner having become a truly exceptional broodmare. Not only is Lillie Langtry dam of Cartier Horse Of The Year, and seven time Gr.1 winner Minding, she also rates as the dam of fellow classic winners Empress Josephine (Irish 1000 Guineas) and Tuesday. The latter, a full-sister to both Minding and Empress Josephine, is one of the top three-year-old fillies seen out in 2022 with Tuesday, whose own sister Minding also captured the Oaks of her year, having won this year’s Gr.1 Cazoo Oaks and finished a close up second in the Gr.1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. This is also the immediate family of another three-year-old filly of 2022 in the form of Place Du Carrousel, an impressive winner of this year’s Gr.1 Prix de l’Opera Longines.

Further back, this is also the family of yet another English Oaks winner in the form of Brulette , as well as outstanding Arc winner and sire Vaguely Noble, to name but two! One of the very best sons of outstanding stallion War Front, Lancaster Bomber, whose half-brother War Bomber captured the Gr.3 Seagram Cup earlier this year, finished first or second in no fewer than six Gr.1 races, and emulated the mighty racehorse and sire Montjeu when he captured the Gr.1 Tattersalls Gold Cup. Lancaster Bomber has some exceptionally well bred members of his first crop representing him on the racetrack this season. Among Lancaster Bomber’s potential flagbearers this season are siblings to such standout graded stakes winners as Afrikaburn, Amanzimtoti, Chimichuri Run, Kasimir, Kilindini, Snapscan, and Wild Coast. The sky is the limit for his half-sister to Russian Rock!
