Triple Crown Winner represented in Boland’s draft
There were few more charismatic or talented gallopers of his year than Louis The King. The latter, himself a past offering at a KZN Yearling Sale, earned over R5 million during a career which saw Louis The King not only capture the South African Triple Crown (Gr.2 Gauteng Guineas, Gr.1 SA Classic, Gr.1 SA Derby) of 2014, but also the following year’s Gr.1 Sansui Summer Cup. A grandson of the immortal Storm Cat, Louis The King was also placed in all of the Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, Gr.2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile and Gr.1 Daily News 2000. During his career, the talented colt won from 1400m to 2450m while accounting for some of the best horses of his generation.

Hidden Thoughts’ own dam Hidcote Blue is a winning National Assembly half-sister to none other than champion, and Gr.1 J&B Met winner, Imperious Sue -the dam of Gr.1 Woolavington 2000 heroine Imperious Star. The well bred Hidcote Blue is also a half-sister to the stakes winning City State and Gr.2 Astrapak 1900 winner Royal Air Force. The latter also enjoyed success at stud through his dual Gr.3 winning daughter Goodtime Gal and his Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate runner up son Copper Force. This is also the family of Dubai star Victory Moon and the Gr.1 winning half-siblings Real Princess and William Longsword to name but a few!
