Lot 167 – Parfait x Rafeef

Red hot Rafeef represented in Boland’s National Draft.

Boland Stud will be offering a beautifully bred filly (Lot 167) by one of South Africa’s most exciting young stallions at this year’s National Yearling Sale. This filly is a daughter of the Redoute’s Choice stallion Rafeef, who won six of just ten starts including the 2017 Gr.1 Computaform Sprint (a race also won by current boom sire What A Winter). A full-brother to champion Mustaaqeem, Rafeef has made a blistering start to his stud career. Rafeef’s first yearlings made up to R2 200 000 last year, and they have gone on to make a big impression on the racetracks this season.

At the time of writing, Rafeef was South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire, with his early winners headed by Bloodstock South Africa Cape Yearling Sale Cup victress Mounia, as well as the likes of Bella Chica, Civil Rights and Dockofthebay. With some exceptionally well bred two-year-olds yet to represent him, Rafeef looks on course for a potentially hugely successful stud career.

Olympic Johnsnow

Gr.1 Winner – Olympic Johnsnow

Boland Stud’s National Sale consignment includes a daughter of this very exciting young sire and the well bred mare Parfait. The latter, a granddaughter of the mighty Galileo, is a half-sister to both a Gr.1 winning champion as well as to the dam of another Gr.1 winner, making the filly on offer an attractive prospect indeed. Not only is Parfait a half-sister to former Equus Champion, and dual Gr.1 winner, Here To Win (herself the dam of high-class Japanese stakes winner Satono Walkure), she is also a half-sister to the stakes placed dam of Brazilian Gr.1 winner Olympic Jhonsnow. Further back this is also the family of legendary racehorse, and five times US Horse Of The Year, Kelso. This filly has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winners The Autumn Sun!
