Boland Stud offer classically bred filly at Cape Sale

Boland Stud will be offering a filly (Lot 181) with a truly classic pedigree at this year’s Cape Yearling Sale.

The filly, named Cathkin Peak, in question is a daughter of Global View, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020, and the well bred Oratorio mare Our Fair Lady. The latter, a winner, is herself out of the top-class racemare Bambina Stripes, whose wins included a triumph in the Gr.1 SA Fillies Classic. A daughter of Equal Stripes, Bambina Stripes, who earned nearly R800 000 in stakes, produced a trio of winners headed by classy Gr.3 Politician Stakes runner up Legitimate. From the same male line as Cathkin Peak, Legitimate was himself a R600 000 yearling purchase.

Gr.1 Winner - Gunner

Gr.1 Winner – Gunner

A granddaughter of the mighty Candy Stripes, Bambina Stripes hails from immediate family of Gr.1 Premiers Champion Stakes winner Gunner and high-class US galloper Labamta Bay among many other black type performers. Global View, sire of Cathkin Peak, is a proven sire, who has some very exciting three-year-olds to his name this season. These include millionaire Dave The King, who ran third to the sensational Charles Dickens in the Gr.3 Cape Classic earlier this season and the stakes placed Holly’s View. The blue blooded Global View, who made such an eye catching start to his stud career, is also sire of East Cape superstar Global Drummer, Gr.3 Track And Ball Derby winner Decorated, and the very smart fillies Kissing Point and Sound Check -to name but a few!

Further back in her pedigree, Cathkin Peak combines two of the biggest names of the modern day stud book. Galileo, sire of Global View, and Danehill, the legendary sire of Oratorio, have combined to produce some of the greatest horses of the modern era. The list of numerous equine stars bred on the Galileo/Danehill cross is headed by none other than legendary racehorse and champion sire Frankel, with other Gr.1 winners sired by Galileo out of a daughter of Danehill include Highland Reel, Intello, Noble Mission, Golden Lilac, Japan, Mogul, and top-class sire Teofilo. Last season’s Cartier Champion Kyprios is another equine superstar bred on the Galileo/Danehill cross.
