Lot 2 – Acaciawood x Gimmethegreenlight

Gimethegreenlight ex Acaciawood

Classy Gimmethegreenlight colt set to attract attention

Prominent sire Gimmethegreenlight is the sire of three quality yearlings in Boland’s 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale draft. The Gimmethegreenlight trio includes a smashing colt out of the well performed Captain Al mare Acaciawood, a speedy four time winner who ran third in the 2016 Gr.3 Champagne Stakes. Acaciawood, bred on the same Captain Al/Fort Wood cross as the Gr.1 winners Captain America and William Longsword, is herself out of a full-sister to Gr.2 Drill Hall Stakes winner Syon, and her dam, Lucy Would, is also a three-parts sister to Gr.2 Premier’s Trophy winner Hundred Acre Wood, Gr.3 Cape Summer Stayers hero Golden Oriole, and Gr.1 Gold Cup runner up Noblewood.

This colt is from an exceptional Oppenheimer family, with his other notable relatives including such Oaks winners as Tsessebe, Torpedo Boat, Victoria Bay and With Pleasure. Gimmethegreenlight, one of more than 200 stakes winners sired by Vinery Stud’s legendary shuttle sire More Than Ready, was an exceptional racehorse whose six career wins included a defeat of dual South African Horse Of The Year Variety Club in the 2012 Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.

The half-brother to Gr.1 Coolmore Classic winner Ofcourseican made an instant impact at stud, with Gimmethegreenlight named South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2015-2016. His nearly 50 black type horses have won many top races in South Africa already, with Gimmethegreenlight runners having already won all of the Gr.1 Daily News 2000, Gr.1 Premier’s Champion Stakes (twice), Gr.2 Golden Horseshoe, Gr.2 Gauteng Guineas, Gr.2 KRA Fillies Guineas, Gr.2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile, Gr.2 SA Fillies Nursery, Gr.2 Western Cape Fillies Championship, Gr.2 Post Merchants, and Gr.2 Umkhomazi Stakes.

This Gimmethegreenlight colt is bred on the same cross as Gr.1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winner Gunner and Zimbabwean champion Flanders.
