Lot 21 – Scarlet Grits x Seventh Rock

“This is what you call an awesome colt”

A colt by a Gr.1 sire from an outstanding family is a must see at the KZN Sale

Seventh Song – a beautifully balanced big strong colt (Lot 21) by Gold Medallion winner Seventh Rock, whose offspring include previous Gold Medallion winners Seventh Plain and Guiness. Seventh Rock has been supplying a steady stream of winners this season, with the likes of the Candice Dawson trained Gr.1 sprinter Rocky Valley, debut winner Three Stars and Derby runner up Israel.

Seventh Song, a half-brother to 2 winners, is out of a winning half-sister to eight time stakes winner Storm Crossing, and to the very smart racemare Red Ginger. His second dam is Gr.3 Final Fling Stakes winner Flaming Corn, whose sire Elliodor is damsire of such outstanding performers as Val De Ra, Abashiri, French Navy, Aslan, Cordocelli, Donatella and Dog Wood, as well as Dennis Bosch’s hugely promising two-year-old Cue The Music.

Flaming Corn is herself a sister in blood to the game Elliodor sired mare Miss Doreet, winner of both the Ladies Mile and Final Fling Stakes twice. Third dam is a stakes winning daughter of another outstanding broodmare sire in Dancing Champ, and this is the same family as multiple Gr.1 winner and Horse Of The Year Irish Flame. That son of Dynasty is responsible for the promising Alyson Wright trained three-year-old Sunny Bill Du-Toy –a winner of his last three races in a row.

This is also the family of Champion 2YO and Gr.1 SA Nursery winner Smackeroo. Parade Leader, broodmare sire of Seventh Song, is enjoying increasing success as a broodmare sire, with his daughters having already produced the likes of Fillies Guineas winner Alexis, SA Oaks winner Secret Potion, and former star 2yo Kingvoldt.

This colt is bred on a similar cross to the ones that produced five time Gr.1 winner Duke Of Marmalade, multiple Gr.1 winner Rumplestiltskin and Gr.1 winner Guiness.
