Lot 284 – Miss Kiri x Master Of My Fate

Lot 284 - Master Of My Fate ex Miss Kiri

The Merry Widow’s sister oozes class

Boland Stud’s impressive draft for the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale includes a number of blue blooded fillies, with this number including a half-sister to the very talented two-year-old The Merry Widow. The latter, bred by Boland, ranked among the best of her generation at two when the Justin Snaith trained filly won her first three starts.

The Merry Widow’s first three wins included triumphs in both the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery and Listed Perfect Promise Sprint, with the filly going on to finish runner up in that season’s Gr.3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery.

Her half-sister on offer at this year’s National Sale is a daughter of promising Master Of My Fate. The latter, who is from the same family as Vinery Stud’s Breeders’ Cup winning sire Pluck, has made a superb start to his stud career, with Master Of My Fate’s early crops producing the likes of. Guineas winner Twist Of Fate, SA Fillies Nursery heroine Basadi Faith, Gr.1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas runner up Driving Miss Daisy, and Kenyan superstar Silverstone Air. This filly on offer, a full-sister to the smart Kawakami, is a half or full-sister to five winners (from just six runners).

Her winning Jallad sired dam Miss Kiri, a full-sister to Gr.1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winning two-year-old Talahatchie and to Leading Dame (the dam of Singapore Champion Lizarre). Lizarre is a son of seven times champion sire Jet Master –the sire of lot 284’s sire, Master Of My Fate. Miss Kiri is also a full sister to Boston Tea Party, dam of G2 Betting World 1900 star and former G1 Vodacom Durban July favourite Solid Speed.

Master Of My Fate’s seven time champion sire Jet Master has done exceptionally well with this family, siring all of Lizarre, the dam of Lady In Black, and Winter Guineas runner up Lake Arthur.
