Lot 333 – Polychromatic x Querari
Polychromatic’s Querari colt looks the part!
Boland Stud will be offering a colt by leading sire Querari at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. Winner of the Gr.1 Premio Presidente della Republica, and by the same sire as top stallion Showcasing, Querari has made an instant impression, and already has more than 30 black type horses to his name. Of the active sires Querari is statistically second only to champion sire Silvano by winners to runners and black type winners to runners and that is with 822 less runners than Silvano. With Querari’s best crops still to come he is definitely the future champion sire.
Querari has an especially strong crop of three-year-olds this season, headed by graded stakes winners Cockney Pride (Gr.2 Zulu Kingdom Golden Slipper) and Mill Queen (Gr.3 HSH Princess Charlene Starling Stakes), and Lady’s Slipper Stakes winner Luna Wish. He is also the sire of a really striking looking colt out the well related, winning Black Minnaloushe mare Polychromatic. Already dam of a winner, Polychromatic is a full-sister to Easter Handicap winner Great Rumpus, and a half-sister to exported Gr.1 Champions Cup victor Master Plan and to Gr.2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes heroine Polyphonic.
Polychromatic herself is out of a six time winning half-sister to dual Gr.1 Champion Stakes winner, and Equus Champion, Young Rake, and a half-sister to the dam of exported Equus Champion, and Gr.1 Thekwini Stakes & Gr.1 L Jaffee Empress Club Stakes winner, Along Came Polly. Further back, this is the family of Gr.1 winning two-year-old Van Halen, Gr.1 Betting World Cape Flying Championship hero Gulf Storm, and champion Rock Opera –dam of Gr.1 Criterium International winner Royal Meeting and the durable Gr.2 Godolphin Mile winner Heavy Metal.A dual Gr.1 winning son of champion sire and broodmare sire Storm Cat, Black Minnaloushe, the broodmare sire of this colt, is fast making his mark as a broodmare sire, with his daughters’ 15 black type winners including the Glen Kotzen trained Gr.2 Western Cape Fillies Championship winner Third Runway, Gr.1 WRC Thorndon Mile winner Stolen Dance, Gr.2 Hawke’s Bay Guineas hero Amarula and recent Socrasync Toro Ya Africa Algoa Cup winner Cat Daddy. This colt has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winners Tuscan Evening, Polydream and PRETTY POLLYANNA!
Boland Stud’s Eugene Freeman has taken a strong liking to this well bred colt, and describes him as, “”He is beautifully balanced and is an absolute cracker of a colt!”.
