Lot 34 – Bejewelled Spring x Querari

Flax half-brother set to impress

Boland Stud will be offering an exceptionally well bred crop of two-year-olds at this year’s Emperors Palace National Two Year Old Sale, and one of their top prospects could well be the Querari half-brother to Singapore star Flax. The colt in question is a son of prolific Oasis Dream horse Querari, who has already sired more than 40 black type horses thus far. South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, the Gr.1 winning Querari is a proven sire of high-quality racehorses with his stars including Gr.1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon and fellow graded stakes winners Cockney Pride, Monks Hood, Head Honcho, Cosmic Light, Wonderwall, Kampala Campari, Mill Queen and millionaire Kangaroo Jack.

Flax – the legend!

Querari also has an exceptional crop of three-year-olds in 2020-2021, with his sophomores including Prince Florimund Irridescence Stakes winner Caya Coco, the unbeaten Invincabelle, the promising Hyde Park -a winner of two of his first three starts, Lady’s Slipper Stakes winner Herrin, and the graded stakes performers Slalom Queen and Rapid Fire. His colt out of the Elliodor mare Bejewelled Spring is a half-brother to nine winners notably Flax -winner of the Raffles Cup and Chairman’s Trophy in Singapore, and Michael Roberts Handicap runner up, and R600 000 plus earner, Silver Spring.

To date, the progeny of Bejewelled Spring, herself a half-sister to multiple G1 winning champion Blossoming Fields, have won more than 30 races, and this total is likely to climb still further. Bejewelled Spring herself is a daughter of outstanding broodmare sire Elliodor -whose daughters have produced more than 80 stakes winners notably such G1 winners as Abashiri, Aslan, Cordocelli, Dog Wood, French Navy, Kochka, Outcome,Trademark, and Val De Ra.

This colt has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winner Oasis Dream!
