Lot 352 – Allez Afrique x The United States

The United States filly to star at national yearling sales

Few, if any, South African based stallions have made a more explosive start to their stud career than did the The United States. The Gr.1 winning son of Galileo’s very first runner, Sheela, made a breath-taking, winning debut when romping away, to beat male rivals, to win the Listed Storm Bird Stakes recently by three and three quarter lengths.

The United States, who earned more than $2 million during his racing days which saw him win group races in both Australia and Ireland, makes plenty of appeal as a potentially top-class stallion. Winner of the Gr.1 Ranvet Stakes, the handsome chestnut is a son of the world’s premier sire and is a full-brother to a pair of outstanding, multiple Gr.1 winners in the form of Hermosa and Hydrangea. From the same family as hugely influential champion sire Last Tycoon, The United States is one of three Gr.1 winners produced by the speedy Gr.2 winner Beauty Is Truth, herself a daughter of outstanding sire and broodmare sire Pivotal.

Boland Stud will be offering an exceptionally well bred daughter of this exciting young stallion at this year’s National Sale. The filly (Lot 352) in question is a half-sister to four winners, who between them have won nearly 20 races, notably millionaire African Warrior. That Boland Stud bred rated among the best of his year, when African Warrior captured all of the Gr.2 Haval Motors South Africa Umkhomazi Stakes, Gr.3 The Independent On Saturday Affluence Godolphin Barb Stakes and KZN Yearling Sale Million.

African Warrior

African Warrior “a breath-taking turn of foot”

African Warrior is out of the Jet Master mare Allez Afrique, herself a half-sister to Gr.1 Cape Flying Championship winner O Caesour. Allez Afrique, whose sire was seven times champion sire in South Africa, hails from an exceptional family with her relatives including such champions as Enchantress, Harry’s Charm, Laverna, and National Currency, as well as such standout Gr.1 winners as Enchanting and Siren’s Call (the latter herself responsible for impressive debut winner Sound Of Warning). Intriguingly, Siren’s Call was sired by a grandson of Sadler’s Wells -with that legendary sire also featuring as the grandsire of The United States! Latest star to emerge from this family is Enchantress’ talented daughter Wylie Wench, who recently took her tally of wins to five, from her first ten starts, when winning the Gr.3 Acacia Handicap at the Vaal. Broodmare sire Jet Master is an outstanding broodmare sire, with his daughters having already produced the Equus Champions Edict Of Nantes and Lady In Black, the Gr.1 winning half-brothers Rainbow Bridge (Sun Met) and Hawwaam (SA Classic), and Gr.1 Cape Fillies Guineas runner up Silvano’s Pride.
