Lot 361 – Arcetri Dawn x Gimmethegreenlight

Boland Stud to offer Guineas winner relative at national sale

Gimmethegreenlight is firmly established as one of South Africa’s elite active stallions. A Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning son of More Than Ready, Gimmethegreenlight has already sired more than 60 black type performers with his increasing list of star performers headed by Surcharge (aka Yulong Prince), a top level winner in both Australia and South Africa), multiple Equus Champion Got The Greenlight, Gr.1 Premiers Champion Stakes winner Gunner, and the likes of Barahin, Cosmic Highway, and National Park. With some exceptionally well bred crops yet to represent him on the track, Gimmethegreenlight looks poised for even greater success in the coming seasons.

Boland Stud will be offering a filly (Lot361) by this high-class stallion at this year’s National Yearling Sale, and this filly looks set to join the likes of Gimme Six, Gimme Dat, Rose In Bloom, Green Plains, Lady Of Steel, and Third Runway as a high-class daughter of Gimmethegreenlight. This well bred filly is out of Arcetri Dawn, a daughter of Royal Academy’s Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes winning son Bel Esprit. Best known as the sire of unbeaten Australian legend Black Caviar, Bel Esprit has fast become a high-class broodmare sire, with his daughters having already produced the likes of Hong Kong champion Beauty Generation and Gr.1 Golden Rose/Caulfield Guineas victor Ole Kirk.

The well bred Arcetri Dawn is herself a half-sister to millionaire Arcetri Pink, whose six career wins included triumphs in all of the Gr.2 Gauten Fillies Guineas, Gr.2 Ipi Tombe Challenge and Gr.3 Pretty Polly Stakes. Among the notable performers beaten by Arcetri Pink were the Gr.1 winners Cherry On The Top, For The Lads, Athina, Along Came Polly, and Ash Cloud. Arcetri Dawn is out of the Galileo mare Arcetri -herself a half-sister to Gr.2 winning filly Camena, and further back, this is the family of Gigantic – winner of all of the Cape Derby, Dingaans and Holiday Inns in South Africa. The world’s premier sire, Galileo is already broodmare sire of more than 140 stakes winners including the likes of Ghaiyyath, Night Of Thunder, Qualify, Sistercharlie, Sottsass, The Autumn Sun, Hero’s Honour, Zhukova, Magna Grecia, and Galileo Gold.
