Lot 386 – Bit On The Side x Gimmethegreenlight

Gimmethegreenlight colt set to impress at National Sale

Boland Stud will be offering, as agent, an impeccably bred son of red hot sire Gimmethegreenlight at the 2021 National Yearling Sale. South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2015-2016, Gimmethegreenlight is enjoying another fantastic season in 2020-2021. Already the sire of more than 60 black type horses, headed by Yulong Prince (a GR.1 winner in both Australia and South Africa), multiple Equus Champion Got The Greenlight and Gr.1 winning two-year-old Gunner, Gimmethegreenlight is responsible for both top-class colts and fillies, and the former Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate has some smashing two-year-olds and three-year-olds this season.

Gimmethegreenlight dominated both the recent Gr.3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery and Gr.3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery -with his son Cosmic Highway running out a facile winner of the Cape Nursery and Gimmethegreenlight fillies Gimme Dat and Super Siri finishing first and third respectively in the Fillies Nursery. His sophomores this season include Gr.3 Sea Cottage Stakes winner Second Base, Listed Secretariat Stakes victor Paisley Park, and the graded stakes winning fillies Ecstatic Green and Gee For Go.

International Gr.1 winner – Yulong Prince

The Gimmethegreenlight colt (Lot386) in question is a half-brother to three winners, including the smart, stakes placed filly On Captain’s Side. He is out of the well performed Jet Master mare Bit On The Side -whose six career wins included a triumph in the Gr.3 Final Fling Stakes. Out of the dual winning Jallad mare Jallad’s Gold, Bit On The Side hails from the same family as Gr.2 Sceptre Stakes winner Lady Celeste. Boland Stud’s Gimmethegreenlight colt out of Bit On The Side is bred on the same cross as the high-class graded stakes winners Green Plains and La Bella Mia. South Africa’s Leading Sire Of Broodmares in 2018-2019, seven times champion South African sire Jet Master has become a truly exceptional broodmare sire with his daughters having already produced such standout Gr.1 winners as Hawwaam, Rainbow Bridge, Golden Ducat, Silvano’s Pride, Kilindini, Edict Of Nantes and Lady In Black.
