Classically bred Querari filly set to impress

Boland Stud will be offering an exceptionally well bred daughter of perennially successful sire, and former German champion, Querari at the upcoming November Two Year Old Sale. South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, and a son of champion sprinter Oasis Dream, Querari enjoyed a tremendous season in 2020-2021, with his flagbearers headed by Gr.1 4Racing Computaform Sprint winner, and subsequent Equus Champion Sprinter, Rio Querari.

At the time of writing, Querari has been responsible for more than 50 black type horses, with his daughters including such as Gr.1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon, Gr.2 Tibouchina Stakes heroine Caya Coco, Gr.2 winning two-year-old Cosmic Light, Gr.2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper winner Cockney Pride and speedy Gr.3 winner Mill Queen. Querari also has some exceptionally promising three-year-old fillies this season, including Gr.2 Prosport International Debutante winner Maryah, Listed Tabonline.co.za Irridescence Stakes queen Maria Querol, Listed Lady’s Slipper Stakes heroine Homely Girl and the talented Supreme Quest to name but a few.

Boland Stud will be offering a Querari filly, bred on the same Querari/Silvano cross as graded stakes winners Cosmic Light and Wonderwall, at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale. The filly in question, a full-sister to the useful Sea Eagle, is out of the winning Silvano mare Monpazier -a half-sister to triple Gr.1 winner Captain America and Gr.3 Jacaranda Handicap queen Aquitaine. Monpazier, in turn, is out of the Fort Wood sired Spook Express Handicap runner up and five time winner Requista -whose dual Prix Du Cap winning half-sister Dacha ranks as the granddam of last season’s Gr.1 Vodacom Durban July winner Kommetdieding. The latter, currently one of the most exciting horses in South Africa, was sired by Elusive Fort -whose sire Fort Wood sired Requista. Further back, Monpazier’s fifth dam Chandelier produced the brilliant Crocket -winner of the Middle Park Stakes at two and the St James’s Palace Stakes at three. This is the famous Queen Of Light family -a remarkable source of classic winners and G1 stars!
