Querari colt to follow in Jet Master footsteps

Boland Stud, breeders of Querari’s exciting daughter River Queraress, will be hoping for more success with Querari when they offer a smashing colt by Querari at this year’s National Yearling Sale. River Queraress, winner of three in a row including the Listed Ruffian Stakes, is one of a growing number of two-year-olds to ensure Querari currently heads the Leading Sires of 2YOs List for 2021-2022. Other promising juveniles representing Querari this season thus far include the speedy Fennec Fox, debut winner Royal Sovereign and Cruise Control. The latter, also bred by Boland Stud, won two of his first three starts and set a new record when thrashing subsequent Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes hero Cliff Top on debut.

Rio Querari

Gr.1 Winner – Rio Querari

Querari, who was South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, has proven a consistent source of high-class runners, with the son of Oasis Dream also responsible for such standout performers as Equus Champion Rio Querari, G1 Thekwini Stakes victress Querari Falcon, as well as such notable graded stakes winners as Caya Coco, Cockney Pride, Head Honcho, Kangaroo Jack, Maryah, Monks Hood and Wonderwall. A G1 winner in Italy and champion in Germany, Querari is represented in Boland’s National Sale draft by an absolute belter of a colt. The colt in question is a half-brother to two winners notably the lightly raced El Dante and the very talented racemare Dancing Queen. The latter, who earned nearly R600 000 in stakes, won or placed in 16 races with Dancing Queen finishing runner up in the 2019 G3 Gauteng Tourism Authority Magnolia Handicap and third in the following year G2 WSB Camellia Stakes. Dancing Queen, who won from 1000-1400 metres, was also third in the 2019 G3 Sycamore Sprint and managed to account for the likes of Gallic Princess, Green Plains and Singforafa during her career.

The colt on sale is out of the winning Jet Master mare Jet Princess -a full-sister to Thundering Jet, winner of the G3 Matchem Stakes in South Africa and the G2 Chairman’s Trophy in Singapore. Jet Princess is also a half-sister to the dam of the smart G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe runner up Portico. From the immediate family of former 2000 Guineas runner up Glory Awaits, this classy colt is directly descended in female line from Wokingham Stakes winner Kong, dam of Derby winner Nimbus and the hugely influential stallion Grey Sovereign.
