Lot 474 – Yoshie x Rafeef

Lot 474 - Rafeef AUS x Yoshie

Yoshie’s son looks special

The remarkable Yoshie was a star in the Eastern Cape, with the Alan Greeff trained runner winning 13 of her 25 races and earning over R840 000 in prize. A daughter of Jallad’s multiple stakes winning daughter Blushing Fairy, Yoshie won four of six starts at two, with her juvenile successes including a triumph in the 2013 Listed Dahlia Plate (a race won previously by Blushing Fairy).

Yoshie went from strength to strength at three, with the filly winning a further four races headed by the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes over 1200m. In total, the multiple East Cape champion captured four listed races, with Yoshie going on to score a repeat win in the East Cape Breeders Stakes when triumphant in 2015.

Boland Stud will be offering the first foal of this wonderful racemare, a colt by Gr.1 Computaform Sprint winner Rafeef, at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, and there should be plenty of interest in this speedily bred colt (who is closely inbred to legendary stallion Danzig).

Boland Stud - Sales - BloodStock 2020 - Yoshie

A son of multiple champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice (recently responsible for his 37th individual Gr.1 winners), Rafeef won six of only ten starts, and scored his break out win when downing champions Talktothestars and Carry On Alice to land the 2017 Gr.1 Computaform Sprint. Also victorious in the 2017 Gr.2 Hawaii Stakes (where he accounted for no fewer than eight graded stakes winners), Rafeef shares his outstanding sire with such top Australian stallions as Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt, as well as the hugely popular young sire The Autumn Sun.

Rafeef, a full-brother to Gr.1 SA Nursery winner and Equus Champion Mustaaqeem, made an instant impression with a yearling from his first crop making R2 200 000, to the bid of Amanda Skiffington, at this year’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale. This colt has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winner Peeping Fawn!

Boland Stud’s Eugene Freeman has taken a strong liking to this well bred colt, and describes him as, “”He is a beautifully balanced colt!”.
