Lot 517 – Scarlet Grits x Gimmethegreenlight
“This is what you call an awesome filly”

Blue blooded Gimmethegreenlight filly to shine at National Sale
There are fewer hotter sires around South Africa at the moment than Gimmethegreenlight, and that son of More Than Ready (and South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2015-2016) is represented by a filly (Lot 517) in Boland’s National Sale consignment.
A filly whose pedigree suggests she is a sire strike (her dam having produced multiple winners by Warm White Night and Antonius Pius), this Gimmethegreenlight filly is out of the winning Parade Leader mare Scarlet Grits –who won up to 1400m. The beautifully bred Scarlet Grits, whose winning siblings include August Stakes winner Storm Crossing, was produced by Gr.3 Final Fling Stakes winner Flaming Corn. The latter was sired by as Aslan, Val De Ra, Dog Wood, French Navy, and Donatella, as well as the very exciting sire Master Of My Fate.
This is the immediate family of KZN sire and Horse Of The Year Irish Flame (whose 7 wins included both the Gr.1 SA Derby and Gr.1 Daily News 2000) and November Handicap hero Swartland. Her sire Gimmethegreenlight is enjoying a superb season this year, with his runners including (already sire of Gr.1 winners Gunner and Surcharge) Yvette Bremner’s brilliant recent Gr.2 Gauteng Guineas winner National Park and the Mike de Kock trained Gr.1 SA Classic runner up Barahin.
Broodmare sire Parade Leader is also quickly establishing himself as a promising broodmare sire, with his daughters having already produced the likes of SA Oaks winner Secret Potion, impressive recent debut winner Cousin Liz, Fillies Guineas winner Alexis and Marsh Shirtliff and Bryn Ressell’s recent Ibhyai Stakes hero Fabian. More importantly, perhaps, this filly is bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Parade Leader cross as the Brett Crawford trained multiple graded stakes winner Gimme One Night! The latter, winner of both the Gr.3 Chairman’s Cup and Gr.3 Cape Summer Stayers, has already banked over R600 000 in stakes.
This filly is bred on a similar cross to the ones that produced Gr.1 winners Egg Tart and Funtastic. Eugene really likes this filly, and says of her, “She is an absolutely magnificent looking filly!”.
