Lot 565 – Twilight Tiger x Trippi

“This is what you call an awesome filly”

Noble Secret relative to impress at National Sale

One of the likely stars in Boland Stud’s imposing 2019 National Sale draft is undoubtedly the beautifully bred Trippi filly (Lot 565) –who is from one of the best families in the South African stud book! Trippi, South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, has been a consistently successful sire of high quality stock, with Trippi’s offspring, who have earned over $60 000 000 in prize money, numbering nearly 150 black type performers amongst them!

Trippi has enjoyed particular success with his daughters including such outstanding Gr.1 winners R Heat Lightning, Inara, Real Princess, and For The Lads, as well as Equus Champion Hammie’s Hooker, Royal Ascot queen Jealous Again, and R4.2 million plus earner Live Life. Trippi also looks to have a very promising two-year-old daughter this year in the form of the Candice Bass-Robinson trained Vandah’s Spirit, a winner of two of only three starts.

Boland Stud offer a filly by this champion sire out of the very smart Tiger Ridge mare Twilight Tiger. A very speedy sort, Twilight Tiger won six, from 1000-1200m, and ran third in the Listed Banyana Handicap. Her dam is Gr.3 Umzimkhulu Handicap winner Honour And Glory –a half-sister to black type performers First Honour, Gia’s Secret and Arabian Secret, with the latter having produced a high class runner herself in the form of the Mike de Kock trained Noble Secret.

The latter, third in the 2018 Gr.1 SA Derby, made it two impressive wins on the bounce, with Noble Secret taking his earnings to over R750 000 in the process. From the same family as Gr.1 Computaform Sprint winning filly Noble Heir (dam of Australian Gr.3 winner Crown Witness), Boland’s Trippi filly is directly descended in female line from South Africa’s greatest ever broodmare –Drohsky. (Her other notable relatives include such champion racemares as Evening Mist and Dancing Danzig, as well as the July winners Diza and Sea Cottage).

This filly has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winner Despreciado. Eugene is in awe of this classy filly, saying, “She’s arrestingly beautiful with a strong, athletic frame.”
