Kommetdieding relative set for centre stage

Boland Stud will be offering a relative to one of the best racehorses currently campaigning in South Africa at this year’s National Yearling Sale. A colt by reigning champion South African sire Gimmethegreenlight, he hails from the immediate family of star galloper Kommetdieding. The latter, winner of last season’s G1 Vodacom Durban July, underlined his class when romping home to a clear-cut victory in the 2022 G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met. In the process, the Harold Crawford/Michelle Rix trained colt accounted for four G1 winners including champions Jet Dark and Do It Again.

Gr.1 Winner – Captain America

At the time of writing, four-year-old Kommetdieding had won six of his first ten starts, for earnings of more than R3.234 million, with the star colt having won or finished in the money in all of the G1 WSB Cape Town Met, G1 Vodacom Durban July, G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, G1 Daily News 2000, G2 World Sports Betting Guineas and G3 Politician Stakes. Boland Stud’s colt, a half-brother to three winners, is out of the winning Silvano mare Monpazier, a half-sister to triple G1 winner Captain America (Horse Chestnut Stakes, Champions Cup, Gold Challenge), and G3 Jacaranda Handicap heroine Aquitaine. This colt’s granddam Requista, a daughter of champion sire, and multiple champion sire Fort Wood, won five times and finished second in the Listed Spook Express Handicap.
