Lot 72 – Swift Dancer x The United States
The United States filly sports a world class pedigree!
Boland Stud will be offering a regally bred daughter of one of South Africa’s most popular and promising young stallions at this year’s Cape Yearling Sale. The United States, winner of the G1 Ranvet Stakes and a full-brother to multiple G1 winning fillies Hermosa and Hydrangea, made a smashing start with his first runners.

In The Congo – Gr.1 Winner in Australia
A son of legendary stallion Galileo (whose numerous high-class sire sons include champion sire Frankel), The United States ended the 2020-2021 season as one of South Africa’s Leading First Season Sires. His early runners were headed by the Michael and Adam Azzie trained star filly Sheela -a winner of three of her first four starts, including the G2 4Racing SA Nursery and Listed Storm Bird Stakes. Understandably, the stock of The United States proved very popular in sales rings around South Africa -with a colt by the sire fetching R700 000 at the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale. A daughter of The United States (consigned by Boland Stud) made R425 000 at the November Two Year Old Sale, and buyers clearly like what they see of The United States!
This blue blooded sire (The United States is from the same family as influential champion sire Last Tycoon) has a very well bred filly (Lot 72) on offer at the 2022 Cape Yearling Sale. Boland Stud’s filly is out of the winning Oratorio mare Swift Dancer -a half-sister to the Duncan Howells trained Equus Champion Via Africa. The latter, South Africa’s Champion Sprinter of 2014, won 10 of her 16 starts in South Africa with Via Africa’s six black type wins including the 2014 G1 Cape Flying Championship and two runnings of the G1 South African Fillies Sprint.
Since retiring to stud in Australia, Via Africa has more than made her presence felt -not only is the champion dam of smart Hong Kong galloper Pleasant Endeavor, but her son In The Congo is currently one of the best gallopers in Australia, with In The Congo having captured three of his seven starts including the G1 XXXX Golden Rose (beating the brilliant Anamoe) and G3 XXXX San Domenico Stakes.
Triple G1 winner Oratorio (whose sire Danehill is broodmare sire of numerous stars sired by Galileo-including Frankel), broodmare sire of the filly on sale, is shaping up with great promise as a broodmare sire, with his broodmare daughters having already produced such group winners as Dolce Strega, Epona Plays (sired by a son of Galileo) and Paquirri.
