Lot 98 – Eurythmics x Vercingetorix
Prepare to be captivated by the Vercingetorix factor at Boland Stud, where excellence meets pedigree. In the realm of equine royalty, Vercingetorix reigns supreme. An Equus Champion himself and victor of Dubai’s illustrious Gr.1 Jebel Hatta, Vercingetorix embodies excellence both on the racetrack and in the sales ring. As a son of the six-time South African champion sire Silvano, Vercingetorix boasts awe-inspiring statistics. Currently, he’s siring an impressive 66% winners to runners and a remarkable 7% stakes winners to foals. In an era where a stallion capable of producing 5% stakes winners to foals or more is deemed top-class, Vercingetorix stands out. A testament to Vercingetorix’s class as a stallion is the fact that his eight Gr.1 winners are out of mares sired by eight different stallions. From Indigo Magic (Ambiorsix) and Victory Moon (Astrix) to Kahal (Mrs. Geriatrix), Casey Tibbs (Cousin Casey), and Candy Stripes (Pomp And Power), Vercingetorix’s legacy knows no bounds. In the 2022-2023 season, his progeny, led by Equus Champion Mrs. Geriatrix, triumphed in an astounding 16 black-type races in South Africa.
It’s no wonder that Vercingetorix has become a sensation in the sales ring. At the 2023 National Yearling Sale, his yearlings grossed an impressive R29.9 million, averaging a remarkable R854,286. Boland Stud knows success with Vercingetorix’s progeny, with a colt consigned by Eugene Freeman fetching R2,400,000 at the same sale and another Vercingetorix colt, consigned by Boland Stud, making R750,000 at this year’s KZN Yearling Sale. Now, Boland Stud is proud to offer a well-bred daughter of this exceptional sire at the 2023 November Two-Year-Old Sale. Lot 98, the filly in question, descends from a lineage known for consistently producing outstanding fillies and mares. She already possesses substantial paddock value. Lot 98 is a half-sister to the record-breaking Cruise Control, a lightning-fast sensation who triumphed in seven of his first 11 starts over distances ranging from 800m to 1100m. This dynamic duo shares their lineage with the regally bred mare Eurythmics, a full-sister to Gr.1 Cape Flying Championship hero Gulf Storm and the classy Gr.3 Sycamore Sprint queen Seattle Singer. Together, Gulf Storm and Seattle Singer earned nearly R2,000,000.
Eurythmics is also a half-sister to former Eastern Cape Horse Of The Year, Global Drummer, a 15-time winner who has claimed victory in six Listed races thus far. In turn, Eurythmics traces her lineage back to Royal Drummer, a four-time winning half-sister to Gr.1-winning filly and Equus Champion Rock Opera. Rock Opera, in turn, is the dam of French Gr.1 winner and Australian sire Royal Meeting, along with the remarkably durable Gr.2 Godolphin Mile victor Heavy Metal. The lineage continues with exported Gr.2 The Nursery winner Hit Song, who shares a half-sibling connection with Royal Drummer. Additionally, it includes the dam of dual Gr.1-winning sprinter Van Halen. Eurythmics’ granddam, Drummer Girl, was sired by Al Mufti, whose sons Captain Al and Victory Moon are both broodmare sires of Vercingetorix-sired Gr.1 winners. We cordially invite you to embark on an extraordinary journey of possibilities by visiting Boland Stud in Ceres, Western Cape.
