Lot 78 – Mary Stuart x Futura

Futura colt one for the notebook!

Four time Gr.1 winning stallion Futura has made a smashing start to his stud career. South Africa’s Horse Of The Year of 2014-2015, and a son of top local sire Dynasty, Futura’s first crop includes no fewer than six stakes winners. Futura’s early stars are headed by graded stakes winners Nourbese (Gr.2 Durban Golden Horseshoe), Vihaan’s Pie (Gr.3 Poinsettia Stakes) and Warrior (Gr.3 World Sports Betting Variety Club Mile), as well as the likes of Zimbabwe champion Dindingwe, Bauhinia Handicap Sweet Future, and Zimbabwe Derby second Diesel And Dust.

From the all conqueroring Sadler’s Wells’ male line, Futura looks to be one of the rising stars of the South African stallion band. Boland Stud, as Agent, will be offering a colt by this red hot young stallion at this year’s August Two Year Old Sale.

Neptunes Rain

Neptune’s Rain – Group Winner

This colt, who hails from one of the best families in the South African stud book, is out of the very smart Mary Stuart, a daughter of Irish 2000 Guineas winner Black Minnaloushe. A three time winner from 1000-1200 metres, Mary Stuart finished second in the Gr.3 Sycamore Sprint and third in the Gr.3 Man O’ War Sprint. Out of Gr.3 Champagne Stakes winner Waterwise, Mary Stuart is herself a half-sister to the 3 time winning dam of speedy Gr.3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Neptune’s Rain.

This colt’s fifth dam is none other than Gr.1 Cape Fillies Guineas/Gr.1 Paddock Stakes winner Party Time, ancestress of such champions as In The Fast Lane, Let’s Rock’N Roll and Trademark. His broodmare sire Black Minnaloushe is a proven sire and broodmare sire, whose daughters have produced such notable Gr.1 winners as Lion’s Roar, Stolen Dance and Streets Of Avalon.
