Boland Stud’s 11 string entered for the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale includes yearlings by a host of proven and promising sires.

Lot 183
One such proven stallion is former European champion and triple Gr.1 winner Oratorio, whose son, Magnificus, has been catalogued as lot 183 in the three day sale.
A dual Champion Sire in Italy, Oratorio, whose current 2yos include the very exciting filly Carlita, is (at the time of writing) responsible for 49 stakes winners, who won have over 100 black type races. The son of Danehill’s top runners include international champions Military Attack, Banchee, Biz The Nurse and Cherry Collect, as well as Gr.1 winners Beethoven, Manawanui, Mourinho, and Temida. To date, Oratorio progeny have banked over $59 000 000 in prize money!
Remarkably, he has been represented by group/graded winners in at least ten different countries. An exceptional racehorse, when trained by Aidan O’Brien, Oratorio was a Champion at two in France, and a Champion at three in Ireland.

Oratorio
Magnificus is out of a top class racemare in the form of Katy’s Lane. The latter won four times with her victories including both the Gr.3 Starling Stakes and Gr3 Fillies Mile. Katy’s Lane, who herself earned over R500 000, reeled off four wins on the bounce culminating in a victory in the Gr.3 Fillies Mile (over subsequent SA Oaks winner Ilha Bela). She is a half-sister to ten time stakes winner Follow The Piper and to 11 other winners.
This is the same family as graded stakes winners Beacon Beauty (Gr.2 Woolavington Cup) and Poetic (Gr.2 Natalia Stakes).
