Ideal World’s big race winners this season include Rainbow Bridge (Gr.1 Sun Met), Samurai Warrior (Gr.1 SA Derby), Helen’s Ideal (Sweet Chestnut Stakes, Stormsvlei Mile), Dark Moon Rising (Kings Cup) and Onesie (Glenlair Trophy). To date, Ideal World has been responsible for 36 black type performers, with his other notable progeny including the Equus Champions Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo.

The close relative of Banstead Manor’s influential champion sire Dansili will be represented in Boland Stud’s KZN Sale draft by a colt whose relatives include a string of Epsom classic winners and international champions. This colt, a half-brother to the stakes placed Maties Wildekate and useful four-time winner Rustar Dhow, was produced by the Royal Academy mare Arabian Court. The latter, whose dam was sired by influential sire, sire-of-sires and broodmare sire Machiavellian, was produced by Gr.3 Premio Bagutta winner Royal Lorna –whose offspring included a pair of stakes winners in Lycitus (Gr.3 Prix du Lys) and Forlorna (Bendigo Cup), with Royal Lorna also featuring as the granddam of Gr.1 Premio Roma winning sire Sunstrach.

Rainbow Bridge

The numerous Gr.1 winners and classic heroes to hail from this family include Awaasif (dam of Epsom Oaks winner Snow Bridge and granddam of unbeaten Epsom Derby hero Lammtarra), outstanding siblings Hector Protector and Bosra Sham, Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winning sire Ultra, Investec Derby victor Pour Moi, and once beaten dual Gr.1 winner Act One. The latter made his mark in South Africa through his champion daughter Dancer’s Daughter, who dead-heated for first with the mighty Pocket Power in the 2008 Gr.1 Vodacom Durban July. Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Royal Academy, the damsire of this Ideal World colt, has a superb record as a broodmare sire, with his daughters having produced over 190 stakes winners including multiple champion sire Fastnet Rock.

Like the unbeaten Lammtarra, Royal Academy was sired by Nijinsky II, making Arabian Court bred on very similar lines to the brilliant Derby winning Lammtarra. This colt has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winners Rainbow Bridge, Samurai Warrior, Russian Rhythm, Fastnet Rock, Archipenco, Rule Of Law, Jade Robbery and Way Of Light!
