Boland Stud offer 11 well bred yearlings at the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, with one of the best bred perhaps coming in the form of Lot 226.

Var

This unnamed bay colt is a son of Champion 2YO Sire Var (enjoying another sensational season with his juveniles), whose 20 Gr.1 horses include such champions as Variety Club, Val De Ra and Via Africa. Other notable graded stakes winners sired by Var include Gr.1 winners August Rush, Contador, Normanz and Villandry, as well as recent Gr.2 (formerly Gr.1) Golden Horseshoe hero Purple Diamond.

Var has some sensational juveniles again this season, which his potential stars including the Vaughan Marshall trained Zinedine and Doug Campbell’s unbeaten filly Val-La-Ree.

To date, runners sired by Var have earned in excess of R111 000 000!

The colt on offer is closely inbred to multiple champion sire Storm Cat. This pattern has previously worked successfully in such Gr.1 winners as Nother Russia, Lady Aurelia and Harmonize.
