Lot 11 – Firstnightbliss x Master Of My Fate

Wild Wicket sibling set to star at National Sale

Boland Stud will be offering a handful of yearlings of yearlings As Agent at this year’s National Yearling Sale. Among these yearlings is well bred colt (Lot 11) by impressive Jet Master stallion Master Of My Fate.

A winner of six of just eight starts, and from the same family as current star three-year-olds Erik The Red and Malmoos, Master Of My Fate has made a big impression since retiring to stud. His first crop was headed by Guineas winning millionaire Twist Of Fate, Gr.3 Flamboyant Stakes winner Indi Anna and Derby Trial victor Gift For The Gap, while his second crop included Gr.2 SA Fillies Nursery winner Basadi Faith and the classy Driving Miss Daisy – runner up in all of the Gr.1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas, Gr.1 Cartier Paddock Stakes and Gr.1 Woolavington 2000.

However, it was his third crop which truly made people sit up and admire, with Master Of My Fate’s third crop, now three-year-olds carrying all before them. This crop was headed by Gr.1 winner, and Equus Champion Tempting Fate, Gr.1 Premiers Champion Stakes winning filly Sentbydestiny and Zarina and Maledimo – first and third respectively in the Gr.3 Vasco Prix Du Cap. Master Of My Fate is also the sire of a well related colt (11), who rates as a half-brother to five winners, notably Listed Michael Roberts Handicap winner Wild Wicket.

This colt is out of Gr.1 Sun City SA Fillies Classic third, and four time winner, Firstnightbliss, herself a daughter of champion sire Jallad who is an exceptional broodmare sire, and his daughters have already produced more than 50 stakes winners headed by the Gr.1 winners Eyes Wide Open, Investec Cape Derby winner It’s My Turn, Liege, J&B Met winner Martial Eagle, Redberry Lane, Dubai Gr.1 winner Shea Shea, Cape Guineas winner Solo Traveller, Will Pays, and recent Gr.1 Cape Flying Championship winner Russet Air.

Firstnightbliss is herself a half-sister to four black type horses, notably Gr.2 Gold Bowl winner Herod The Great and dual Gr.3 Matchem Stakes hero Sevillano. She also rates as a half-sister to the dam of Gr.1 two-year-old Liberty Hall and to Ladies Mile winner Jet Lady. The latter, was sired, as was Master Of My Fate by the mighty Jet Master. Further back, this is a top-class international family whose notable members include US champion, and successful sire, Lord Avie, and star mare Megahertz.
