Lot 132 – Miss Moneybags x What A Winter

What A Winter filly looks a speedy sort

Boland Stud will be offering a filly (Lot 132) by red hot What A Winter at the upcoming National Yearling Sale.

This filly is being offered As Agent, and she looks a cracking advertisement for her four time Gr.1 winning sire! South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2016-2017, and the country’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2019-2020, What A Winter is already the sire of nearly 30 black type horses, with his star performers headed by Equus Champion, and Gr.1 Cape Flying Championship winner, Russet Air, dual Gr.1 Bidvest Majorca Stakes winner Clouds Unfold, and Gr.1 Tsogo Sun Sprint king Warrior’s Rest.

A son of Gone West’s multiple champion sire son Western Winter, What A Winter also has some very promising 2yos representing him this season, including Gr.3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery runner up Winter Mosaic and Cold Fact -an impressive winner of her first two starts. Boland Stud will be offering a filly by this multiple champion sprinter, whose winning dam Miss Moneybags has already produced four winners, including the four time winning dam of Dahlia Plate runner up, and four time winner, Turbo.

A daughter of high-class sprinter West Man (by Gone West), Miss Moneybags is herself a half-sister to three black type horses including Gr.3 Peninsula Handicap third The In Scene, and Gr.3 Byerley Turk Plate runner up Hot Spice. Miss Moneybags is herself out of a speedy, stakes winning daughter of high-class sprinter and sire Harry Hotspur. This filly is closely inbred to one of Mr Prospector’s greatest sire sons -Gone West. Inbreeding to Gone West has already produced a slew of high-class performers notably Chilean Oaks winner Brooke, New Zealand Champion Vespa, Gr.1 winning sprinter Wooded, and Selangor Cup victor Hard Day’s Night.
