Lot 147 – Konfessional x Elusive Fort

Blue blooded Elusive Fort filly bred to be a star

Ceres farm Boland Stud will be offering two well bred daughters of Equus Champion Elusive Fort at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale.

A triple Gr.1 winner, who shares his champion sire Fort Wood with deceased sire star Dynasty, Elusive Fort has proved a consistently successful stallion –despite beginning his stud career covering relatively ordinary mares. To date, Elusive Fort has been responsible for such high-class fillies as Gr.1 winners Siren’s Call and Lauderdale, R2 million plus earner Safe Harbour, Freedom Charter and Elusive Heart –the 1-2 finishers in the 2019 Gr.3 Poinsettia Stakes, Gr.2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks winner Secret Potion and Gr.1 Gauteng Sansui Summer Cup runner up Fort Ember (who has earned over R1.6 million in stakes).

Boland Stud will be offering a filly (Lot 147) bred on the same Elusive Fort/Kahal cross as the aforementioned, multiple graded stakes winning Fort Ember. Boland’s filly (offered on behalf of the Black Swan Stud) was produced by the dual winning Kahal mare Konfessional –a full-sister to the multiple winners Katch and Koncealed.

Konfessional herself (bred on the same Kahal/Northern Guest cross as Equus Champion Bold Ellinore) is out of the winning, regally bred Northern Guest mare Highlyconfidential. The latter, a full-sister to the Gr.3 placed London Nice (dam of the useful London Niece), is a half-sister to Gr.1 Klawervlei Majorca Stakes Covenant (dam of the Hong Kong based Gr.1 Gold Medallion second Varallo), and to the stakes winning, Gr.1 placed Secret Heart (who, like Elusive Fort) was sired by Fort Wood. Secret Heart, placed in both the Gr.1 Cape Fillies Guineas and Paddock Stakes, made a considerable name for herself at stud in the US, where her progeny (in an all too brief stud career) included Gr.2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winning sire Pluck and US Gr.3 winner Three Hearts.

Highlyconfidential is also a half-sister to dual Gr.1 winner, and Equus Champion Promisefrommyheart, whose progeny dual Gr.2 winner and current sire sensation Master Of My Fate and Spook Express Handicap heroine Justthewayyouare. The latter, whose Captain Al colt Vasco Da Gama made R4 400 000 at this year’s National Yearling Sale, was also sired by Fort Wood, with Justthewayyouare having produced dual Gr.3 winner Captain Splendid.

Further back this is the family of Equus Champions Kings Gambit and London News, while recent graded stakes winners Ghaalla and Hashtagyolo were produced by daughters of the above mentioned Promisefrommyheart.

This filly has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winner Forest Path!
