A daughter of champion sire Badger Land, Sunshine produced a pair of Gr.1 Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas winners in the form of Captain’s Lover (who went on to capture the G3 Prix du Pin in France and Matchmaker Stakes in North America), and Ebony Flyer.

Sunshine Lover also ranks as the granddam of Equus Champion, and Gr.1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Vardy and current classy galloper Universal. The latter, who won by nine and a half lengths second time out, confirmed his status as a top-class performer when he captured the 2022 G3 Cape Racing Politician Stakes (where his beaten rivals included subsequent Gr.2 WSB Guineas winner Zapatillas), before Universal finished second in the Gr.1 Jonsson Workwear Cape Derby.
