Lot 20 – Massachusetts x Rafeef
Robertson sibling a must-see at November sale!
Boland Stud will be offering an exceptionally well bred filly by sire sensation Rafeef at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale.
A Gr.1 Computaform Sprint winning son of champions Redoute’s Choice and National Colour, and a full-brother to champion Mustaaqeem, Rafeef made a scintillating start to his stud career. South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, he was South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire in 2021-2022, when Rafeef runners earned more R8.266 million than on the racetrack. His stellar first crop was headed by the Gr.1 winners Aragosta (WSB SA Derby) and Master Archie (Computaform Sprint), with other notable performers hailing from this crop include stakes winning fillies Empress Of Jade and Franca, the classy Cleaver Greene, and Cape Yearling Sale Cup victress Mounia.

Gr.1 Winner & Sire Sensation – Rafeef
Another high-class galloper to emerge from Rafeef’s smashing first crop was William Robertson. The latter, who has already earned more than R1 000 000 in prize money, showed his class when victorious in both the 2022 Gr.3 Tony Ruffel Stakes and 2021 Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C&G). William Robertson also ended the 2021-2022 season on a high-note when finishing second, beaten only by subsequent Horse Of The Year Captain’s Ransom, in the Gr.1 Mercury Sprint and he built on that fine effort when he won the recent Gr.2 Topbet Mike O’Connor Joburg Spring Challenge. Boland Stud will be offering a full-sister to William Robertson at the 2022 November Sale, and this filly, named Work Of Time, already boosts plenty of paddock value!
Not only is Work Of Time a full-sister to a top-class galloper, her three time winning dam Massachusetts is a full-sister to R8 million plus earner Illuminator, and half-sister to talented Gr.1 performer Rock The Globe. (The latter, like Work Of Time, was sired by a Danehill line stallion). Work Of Time’s dam was sired by champion sire Trippi, and her five time winning, stakes placed granddam Pacific Lights was an Al Mufti half-sister to Gr.1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winning filly Silver Arc. Massachusetts’ sire Trippi has become a hugely successful broodmare sire, with his daughters having already produced top-class US sires Liam’s Map and Not This Time, champion filly Gabor, and Gr.1 winners Miss Florida and She’s A Keeper, to name but a few!
