Lot 208 – Persian Silk x Judpot

JUDPOT FILLY TO FOLLOW IN Gr.1 WINNING RELATIVE’S FOOTSTEPS

Judpot, a former Equus Outstanding Stallion, has consistently thrown good horses since retiring to stud in 2009. The son of A. P. Indy has sired a slew of top class performers, with Judpot’s top performers including Equus Champion Along Came Polly, R4 million plus earner Coral Fever, SA Fillies Classic heroine Juxtapose and the very talented graded stakes winners Polyphonic, Deputy Jud, Sniper Shot, Double Whammy and Forest Indigo.

Boland Stud will be offering a three-parts sister to the Gr.1 Golden Horseshoe winning Forest Indigo at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale, and this well bred filly looks to have plenty of appeal about her. This filly is out of the winning mare Persian Silk –a Captain Al half-sister to not only the Judpot sired Gr.1 winner Forest Indigo but also a half-sister to Judpot’s very classy daughter Tamarina. Trained (like Forest Indigo) by Alec Laird, Tamarina won three of her first five starts before finishing a good fourth in the Gr.3 Acacia Handicap.

Persian Silk, a three-parts sister to the Captain Al sired Swallow Stakes winner All At Once, is herself bred on the same Captain Al/Fort Wood cross as the standout performers Captain America and William Longsword, as well as the graded stakes winners Captain’s Flame, Eighth Wonder, Fragrant Al, and Wheredowego. Her dam is the four time winning Fort Wood mare Albizia –a full-sister to the stakes placed Alessandria, and a half-sister to a remarkable six other black type performers including the very talented Judpot filly Bi Pot –who was second in the Gr.2 Ipi Tombe Challenge and third in the Gr.1 SA Fillies Classic.

Albizia is also a half-sister to Memorial Mile winner Pavlovich, Alexandra Rose (a graded winner in both South Africa and USA), and Sea Cottage Stakes winner Alexandra Palace. The latter won in all of South Africa, Singapore and Dubai –making this a pedigree with international appeal. Boland Stud’s Judpot filly’s first four dams, thus, are by Captain Al, Fort Wood, Darshaan and Habitat –making her a blue blooded filly indeed.

This filly has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winners Forest Indigo, Jay Peg, Same Jurisdiction and A.P. Andi!
