Imagine owning a racehorse bred from the finest bloodlines, destined for the winner’s circle, and carrying the legacy of champions. Boland Stud proudly presents Lot 229, a regally bred colt by Malmoos, the sensational Triple Crown winner making waves in the breeding world. This exceptional offering at the 2025 National Yearling Sale is an opportunity to secure a future champion.
Elite Bloodlines – The Hallmark of Champions
This exquisite colt hails from the first crop of Malmoos, a son of the legendary Captain Al, and a proven performer on the track. Malmoos dominated his generation, winning the Gr.1 South African Classic, Gr.1 SA Derby, and Gr.2 Gauteng Guineas, among other prestigious races. Now, he is making a resounding impact at stud, with his first yearlings fetching up to R1 100 000 at the recent Summer Sale.
This colt is a half-brother to three winners, including the talented Pink Pigeon. His dam, Polychromatic, was a winner herself and is a full-sister to the Listed Easter Handicap winner Great Rumpus, and a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winners Master Plan and Polyphonic.
- Master Plan, a winner of more than R1 000 000 in stakes, claimed three graded stakes victories, including the Gr.1 Champions Cup, defeating a stellar field of champions.
- Polyphonic excelled in the Gr.2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes and Listed Jacaranda Handicap, and placed in multiple graded stakes.
A Pedigree Steeped in Racing Royalty
This colt descends from one of South Africa’s most celebrated families, featuring champions across generations:
- Princess Polly, his granddam, is a half-sister to Equus Champion Young Rake and multiple stakes winner Rubirosa.
- Another close relative, Perfect Polly, produced the Equus Champion and dual Gr.1 winner Along Came Polly, a filly who amassed over R1.6 million in earnings.
- His dam-line traces back to Young Polly, a Gr.3 Vaal Stayers Handicap winner, and a family rich with black-type winners including Rock Opera, Royal Meeting, Heavy Metal, and Van Halen.

Tripple Crow Winner – Malmoos
A Sire Line Poised for Greatness
His maternal grandsire Black Minnaloushe has left an indelible mark as a broodmare sire, producing multiple Gr.1 winners, including Lion’s Roar (Randwick Guineas) and Streets of Avalon (C.F. Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes). In South Africa, he has produced standout performers such as The Futurist, Kinda Wonderful, Pacaya, Silver Hills, and Third Runway.
