Lot 231 - March 2025

Own a Future Champion: Exclusive Rafeef Colt from Boland Stud

For those who demand the very best—both in bloodline and potential—we present an extraordinary opportunity to own a racehorse of undeniable class and championship lineage. Boland Stud is proud to offer Lot 231, a magnificent colt by the outstanding sire Rafeef, at this year’s National Yearling Sale.

A Pedigree of Excellence
Rafeef, a Gr.1 Computaform Sprint winner, has cemented his status as one of South Africa’s premier sires. As South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021, he has produced top-tier racehorses across multiple distances, from the exceptional sprinter-sires Master Archie and Thunderstruck to the Gr.1 SA Derby hero Aragosta. His influence in the sales ring is equally impressive, with his yearlings fetching up to R1 600 000 at previous National Yearling Sales.

A Bloodline Built for Glory
This striking colt is a half-brother to three winners, including the talented debut victor Cian The Conqueror and the consistent September Flower. His dam, Pretty Wendy, is a three-time winning daughter of Dynasty—one of South Africa’s most influential sires and now a formidable force in the broodmare sire ranks. Pretty Wendy is also a half-sister to Gr.1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks and Gr.3 Yellowwood Handicap champion Pine Princess, who has already produced the high-class Pyromaniac and the exciting young contender Native Ruler.

Seeking The Stars

Gr.2 Winner – Seeking The Stars

The family tree of this colt is lined with champions. His granddam, Scent Of Pine, was a multiple winner and runner-up in the Listed Winter Oaks, bred along similar lines to Gr.1 winning sprinter All Will Be Well. The influence of his lineage extends internationally, with ties to Australian Gr.2 winner Spring Thaw, Gr.1 SA Classic winner Lobo’s Legend, and multiple graded stakes winner Seeking The Stars. Further down his pedigree, the legacy of greatness continues with links to legendary racehorses like Java Gold, Henrythenavigator, and the world-class sire Medaglia D’Oro. This is a bloodline synonymous with speed, stamina, and elite performance on the track.

An Investment in Excellence
Owning a horse of this caliber is not just about racing; it’s about securing a legacy. Whether you seek a champion on the turf, a future stallion prospect, or an investment in a bloodline that will continue to produce elite performers, this Rafeef colt is an unparalleled opportunity. The market has already recognized the exceptional value of Rafeef progeny, with yearlings commanding impressive prices. With a family tree that boasts Gr.1 winners, a sire at the pinnacle of his game, and a dam line rich in champions, this colt is primed for greatness. We invite you to experience his power, presence, and potential firsthand. This is your chance to own a true racing aristocrat.
