Lunar Rush sibling a standout in Boland’s KZN Sale draft

Boland Stud will be offering an exceptionally high quality draft at the 2019 KZN Yearling Sale, and one yearling who will undoubtedly prove popular with discerning buyers is Lunar Prospector. The latter is a half-brother to high class performer Lunar Rush, whom Boland Stud consigned (as Agent) to the 2015 KZN Yearling Sale.

A daughter of Windrush, the Duncan Howells trained Lunar Rush went on to win five times, earning over R900 000 in the process, and scored a memorable and glorious win when triumphant in the 2016 KZN Yearling Sale Million.

Lunar Rush and Lunar Prospector were both produced by the very classy Silvano mare Romantic Moon, who won eight times up to 1200m and also ran third in the Gr.3 Poinsettia Stakes. Out of the National Assembly mare Racing Heart (and thus bred on the same Silvano/National Assembly cross as Gr.1 winners Vercingetorix and Happy Valentine), Romantic Moon is a full-sister to Racing Free –the top yearling sold at the (he made R3.25 million). Romantic Moon’s dam is herself a half-sister to Gr.1 Mercury Sprint winner All Will Be Well and further back this is the family of US champion Silent Screen and US Gr.1 winners Swagger Jack, Malibu Prayer, and Graydar.

Lunar Prospector was sired by blue blooded Kris S son Philanthropist –the Leading Sire On All Weather in North America for 2014. Already sire of champions Pender Harbour and Phil’s Dream, Philanthropist is currently the sire of 38 black type performers including the talented Singapore Sling –who has earned over $20 000 000 during his Hong Kong campaign thus far.

This colt has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced Gr.1 winner Aoife Alainn!
