Lot 25 – Arcetri Dawn x Querari

Lot 25 - Querari ex Arcetri Dawn

Boland Stud to offer a smart Querari colt at NYS

Boland Stud will be offering a really smart draft at this year’s National Sale, and one of the picks from this imposing draft is the colt by red hot sire Querari.

The latter, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2yos for 2018-2019, made a blistering start to his stud career, with Querari’s small first crop of just 26 runners including 23 winners, and nine individual black type horses. Stars of Querari’s first crop included millionaire, and multiple graded stakes winner Kangaroo Jack, Gr.1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Melliflora, and Gr.2 The Debutante winner Cosmic Light.

Subsequent crops have yielded a constant flow of stakes winners, notably Gr.1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon, and fellow graded stakes winners Head Honcho, Kampala Campari, Monks Hood, Wonderwall, Mill Queen, and Cockney Pride.

To date, Querari has been responsible for 36 stakes horses, and his current 3yos include not only the graded stakes winners Mill Queen and Cockney Pride but also Gr.1 Premiers Champion Stakes runner up Liberty Hall, Lady’s Slipper Stakes winner Luna Wish, and Ready To Run Stakes runner up Rio Querari.

Boland Stud will be offering a colt by this progressive Oasis Dream sire, with this colt a son of Bel Esprit daughter Arcetri Dawn. As her name suggests, the latter (who shares her dual Gr.1 winning sire with none other than unbeaten Australian superstar Black Caviar) is a half-sister to the Woodruff/Bass trained brilliant racemare, and millionaire Arcetri Pink –victorious in all of the Gr.2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas, Gr.2 Ipi Tombe Challenge and Gr.3 Pretty Polly Stakes. Among the notable performers beaten by Arcetri Pink were the Gr.1 winners Cherry On The Top, For The Lads, Athina, Along Came Polly, and Ash Cloud.

Arcetri Pink

Arcetri Pink and Arcetri Dawn were both produced by the Galileo mare Arcetri –a half-sister to Gr.2 Light Fingers Stakes winner Camena. Further back, this is the family of former South African star Gigantic, New Zealand Derby victor Look Who’s Talking, and Lightning Stakes winner The Judge, sire of top Australian racehorse and sire Zeditave.

Bel Esprit, sire of Arcetri Dawn, is a proven broodmare sire with his daughter Stylish Bel the dam of Hong Kong Horse Of The Year and multiple Gr.1 winner Beauty Generation. This colt has been bred on a similar cross to the one that produced multiple Gr.1 winner Magna Grecia!

Eugene Freeman is impressed with this well-made colt, and says, “He is a stunning colt, with a lot of Querari about him.”
