Boland Stud will be offering a colt by the very inform stallion Elusive Fort. A champion son of champion sire Fort Wood, and from the powerful Sadler’s Wells male line, Elusive Fort is a proven sire whose progeny have been firing on all cylinders in the past few seasons. Elusive Fort, a triple G1 winner himself, made headlines last season when his son Kommetdieding downed a star studded field to land the 2021 G1 Vodacom Durban July impressively. The Harold Crawford/Michelle Rix trained colt has since gone on to land the G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met and is currently one of the best horses in training in South Africa.

His sire Elusive Fort is also responsible for this season’s graded stakes winning three-year-olds Big Burn (G2 Joburg Spring F&M Challenge) and Sprinkles (G3 Three Troikas Stakes), while his top-class son Catch Twentytwo has been exported to continue his career overseas. Other top-class performers sired by Elusive Fort include G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Siren’s Call (the dam of talented filly Sound Of Warning), G1 SA Derby victor Out Of Your League, G1 Thekwini Stakes queen Lauderdale and R2 million plus earner Safe Harbour. The colt on sale is out of the four time winning mare Amarillo Rose, who has already thrown a useful winner to the cover of Elusive Fort in the form of Cracklin’ Rose. In turn, Amarillo Rose is a daughter of five times champion South African sire Silvano -the sire of more than 100 stakes winners including current sire sensation Vercingetorix and four G1 Vodacom Durban July winners. (Silvano is also the sire of millionaire and G2 winner Elusive Silver, who was produced by a full-sister to Elusive Fort!)

Amarillo Rose, bred on the same Silvano/Jallad cross as Met winner Martial Eagle, is herself a half-sister to G3 Final Fling Stakes queen Bit On The Side (the dam of the speedy, stakes placed galloper On Captain’s Side).
