Lot 30 – Our Fair Lady x Rafeef
Boland Stud to offer cracking Rafeef colt at Cape Sale
Boland Stud, as Agent, will be offering a colt (Lot 30) by one of the most exciting young stallions around at the moment in the form of Rafeef. The latter, a Redoute’s Choice full-brother to champion Mustaaqeem, was a top-class performer whose six wins from just ten starts included both the 2017 G1 Computaform Sprint and 2017 G2 Hawaii Stakes.
Trained by Mike de Kock, Rafeef made an instant impression when he retired to stud, with the Ridgemont Highlands resident crowned South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2020-2021. Rafeef, currently South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire, made a big impression through such early runners as William Robertson (G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes), Mounia (Bloodstock South Africa Cape Yearling Sale Cup), Whafeef (2nd Secretariat Stakes), Aragosta (G3 Sea Cottage Stakes & 3rd G2 Dingaans), and the very promising Master Archie. At the time of writing, the latter had won four of his last five starts and looks a very smart sprinter indeed.

Gr.1 winner – Gunner
Rafeef’s son Nelson Bay (Lot 30) looks a very attractive prospect indeed -with this colt not only the son of a red hot stallion but also a member of a top-class female line. The colt is out of the winning Oratorio mare Our Fair Lady, a half-sister to G3 Politician Stakes runner up (to subsequent July winner Kommetdieding) Legitimate, and a daughter of the top-class racemare Bambina Stripes. The latter, a daughter of successful Argentine sire Equal Stripes, earned nearly R800 000 in stakes during a career which saw Bambina Stripes score a thrilling win in the 2012 G1 SA Fillies Classic -where her beaten rivals included the likes of Ilha Bela, Amanee, and Go Indigo.
From the immediate family of high-class North American galloper Labamta Babe and South Africa G1 winner Gunner, Bambina Stripes sports G3 winner Bambello as a half-sister. Nelson Bay is closely inbred to legendary stallion Danehill -a mating also responsible for numerous standout G1 winners including Alizee, Beat The Clock, Bivouac, Campanelle, and Irish Oaks winner Even So.
