Querari colt sports a stallion’s pedigree
Boland Stud, as agent, will be offering one of the best bred two-year-olds on offer at the 2021 November Two Year Old Sale. The colt is a son of prolific sire Querari, South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, and this colt in question hails from the immediate family of Querari’s very first Gr.1 winner -Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon.
Gr.1 winner – Querari Falcon
A half-brother to a pair of black type horses in the form of Light On Her Toes and Twinkle Toes, this colt is out of Gr.1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship/Gr.2 K R A Fillies Guineas winner On Her Toes. The latter, in turn, is out of Savannah Breeze -a three time winning Badger Land half-sister to Gr.1 winners Follow The Falcon (FNB 1600) and Savannah Queen (Paddock Stakes). Savannah Breeze, whose dam Pretty Falcon was named South Africa’s Broodmare Of The Year in 1997-1997, also rates as a half-sister to the winning Pretty Waves -dam of the Querari sired Gr.1 winner Querari Falcon.
Another half-sister, the smart, stakes placed, Golden Falcon, is the dam of Gr.2 Durban Golden Horseshoe winner Nourbese. The latter recently made a winning debut in Mauritius after undergoing a lengthy layoff. Pretty Falcon, herself a half-sister to US Gr.1 winner Big Whippendeal, is a direct descendant of Futurity Stakes queen Mother Goose, herself the ancestress of such breed shaping stallions as Danehill and Northern Dancer. On Her Toes was herself sired by triple South African champion sire Western Winter -whose daughters have produced numerous top-class horses headed by Equus Champions Carry On Alice, Good Traveller and Past Master, as well as the G1 winners Lauderdale, Lobo’s Legend and Tap O’ Noth.
