On that fateful day, Last Winter left six Gr.1 winners, including champions Marinaresco, Legal Eagle, and Nother Russia, behind him—a testament to his exceptional talent. Retiring to stud, Last Winter possessed all the attributes to become a distinguished stallion. As the son of the multiple champion sire Western Winter, he was destined for greatness. His dam, Field Flower, a Gr.1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner, added further luster to his pedigree. She was a daughter of the illustrious six-time South African champion sire Silvano, linking Last Winter to a family of racing legends.
